WELLNESS CARE AND IMMUNIZATION

At Hillcrest Animal Clinic, our focus is on disease prevention and prolonging the lives of our patients through comprehensive wellness plans. We offer special “Longer Life” wellness programs, which are designed to assist your pet through various life stages. Together we will form a plan that helps your pet enjoy a long, happy and healthy life.. The time and effort invested in Wellness care programs for your pets has rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs  include: comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm and flea control; scheduled vaccination program , spay and neuter package; and screening blood tests for all life stages.

We offer many choices for Wellness Care for your pets. You can pay as you go.

RADIOLOGY

Radiology (x-ray) is a valuable tool for accurately assessing your pet’s health.  Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarian evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems.  X-rays offer extremely high quality images of your pet’s internal structure and allow us to make timely and accurate diagnoses of a variety of conditions. Digital radio-graphs arrive on our computer screens within seven seconds!
In the event that the images we capture require a specialist’s opinion, they can be transmitted via the internet to a veterinary radiologist, with results in just a few hours or by the next day.

We can often take radio-graphs during a consultation appointment without having to admit the patient, minimizing any stress to your pet.

IN- HOUSE LABORATORY

Our in-house lab features extensive laboratory equipment that can perform most of the diagnostic tests needed to assess your pet’s health. If needed, additional testing can also be performed at our local Reference Lab, with overnight results.

The in-house testing at Hillcrest Animal Clinic includes: serum chemistry profiles, complete blood analysis, cytology (ear and skin exams), urine testing, and parasite testing. The results of these tests can be reached within just a few hours, allowing us to come to an accurate, timely diagnosis of your pet’s condition.

SURGERY

We offer a variety of surgical procedures, from routine spays and neuters to orthopedic surgery to lump removals to abdominal surgery. All patients are carefully screened for pre-existing illnesses, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Surgical services and facilities include: a board certified surgeon ; trained veterinary and technical staff,  strict sterilization techniques for surgical equipment; blood pressure, EKG, CO2, and oxygen saturation monitors; and post-op nursing hospitalization and care.

SPAYS AND NEUTERS

We provide routine spays and neuters as well as other surgical services. At Hillcrest Animal Clinic we provide  anesthesia and pain management. Our hospital has state-of-the-art anesthetic monitoring equipment and protocols not found at your average vet clinic. In addition, making sure your pet does not suffer unnecessary pain is very important to us.

The price of our surgery includes:
– the surgery itself
– general anesthesia and monitoring by our vterinarian and veterinary nurses
– hospitalization and nursing care by experienced and qualified staff
– pain medication administered in the clinic.

We also recommend pre-op blood testing and peri-anesthestic intravenous fluids, to minimize the chance of anesthetic complications and to help your pet feel better when it wakes up. We’d be happy to discuss this in more detail, answer any questions you might have, and to review the prices in the clinic or over the phone.

PAIN MANAGEMENT

Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care. We provide pre-emptive (pre-op) pain medications, local nerve blocks (local anesthesia), peri-operative intravenous constant rate infusions, and post-op oral medications. We also prescribe medication for pets with chronic pain due to conditions such as cancer or arthritis.

DENTAL CARE

Dental disease hurts! Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s teeth and general health. We provide dental care to allow your pet to live a healthier and more comfortable life. We use hand- and ultrasonic-descalers to clean each tooth thoroughly – above and below the gum line. We polish your pet’s teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup.

INTERNAL MEDICINE

We cover all areas of internal medicine, including: Cardiology; Ophthalmology; Neurology; Dermatology; Gastroenterology; Orthopedic Surgery; Endocrinology; among others and provide referrals to specialists when need be.

ENDOSCOPY

High-tech fiber optics permits direct visual examination and biopsies of your pet’s gastrointestinal system. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral, esophageal, stomach, colon and even upper intestinal tract disease. Foreign objects can also be removed without the need for surgery.

SPECIALISTS

Sometimes conditions arise that require veterinarians with specialized training. We can arrange  referrals for you to a specialty practice.

PHARMACY

We stock a wide range of veterinary medications, including antibiotics, ear and eye drops, anti-inflammatory and pain medication.
